Blockchain integration in the BeanChain cocoa traceability application

Abstract

The cocoa industry faces increasing demands for transparency, sustainability, and verification of product origin, especially from international markets such as the European Union, which, through Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, prohibits the import of products linked to deforestation. In this context, having information systems that guarantee reliable traceability throughout the supply chain has become a key requirement for the competitiveness of producers and for access to high value-added markets.
